Everyone says: let it go. No one says how. This is how.

Three or ten minutes. One question at a time. You start with something someone did, something you did, or something that happened. At the end, you hand it over.

No need to type: you can speak instead.*

What you type stays on your phone. No account. Nothing on our server.

What thought keeps running through your head?

How bad is it right now, from 0 to 10?

0 = not at all, 10 = the worst

Stays in your browser until you tap. Nothing goes to a server.

One question at a time, in this order.

Feel first. Then look. Then hand it over. The other way round doesn’t work, which is why thinking it through doesn’t help at two in the morning. You can skip any question.

1

What thought keeps running through your head?

You start with what hurt: something someone did, something you did, or something that happened.

2

This is about you.

Not as blame, but as the place where change is possible. You turn to what it’s doing to you.

3

What did you decide about yourself then?

You find the old belief about yourself, back at the earliest moment you felt this way.

4

Is it true?

You ask whether that belief is actually true, and look at it without judgement.

5

Hand it over.

You hand it over and come back to who you are, deep down.

Step 12 in the app: Hand it over. Life itself above the line, below it the card with the old belief I don’t count, and the button Hand it over.
The first screen of the app: the same opening line as at the top of this page, on water, with the buttons Show me how and Just start.
What changes

The same thought. Ten minutes later.

the thought about them

Mark told everyone I got it wrong again.

I don’t feel taken seriously.

What happened doesn’t change. What it does to you does.

You see it drop.

Two numbers every time: before and after. With the log, coming soon, you’ll see which belief keeps coming back.

The number is yours, straight from the app. We’ll only show averages once enough people have used it for them to be fair.

At two in the morning, it starts again.

Still going round in your head?

For people who already understand why it hurts, and still can’t stop going over it. At eleven at night you replay that one conversation again. You know full well it isn’t really about the other person. You’ve read the books, maybe for years. And still, tonight, it’s your sister, your boss or your ex keeping you awake. This is the bridge between what you know and what you do when it counts.

No guru, no doctrine. Set questions, one at a time, answered in your own words. Whatever comes out is yours.

No chatbot

Set questions, one at a time. No one lecturing you. The app never draws conclusions about you and never hands anything over on your behalf.

No streaks

Handing it over isn’t an achievement. No badges, no guilt if you skip a week. At most one gentle reminder, if you ask for it.

No cloud

What you write stays on your phone. What you write down at eleven at night doesn’t belong on a company’s server.

The questions stay free. Later, the log with patterns will be a paid extra. We’ll tell you in advance.

Questions people ask

How do I let go of something I keep going over?

Not by thinking about it one more time. By following a fixed order. First the thought that keeps running through your head, then feeling where it sits, then looking at what it says about you, when you first felt it, and whether that belief is true. Then you hand it over. Just make peace asks those questions one at a time. At the start and at the end you give a number from 0 to 10, so you can see for yourself what it did.

What is the difference between ruminating and worrying?

Ruminating is about something that has already happened: the same thought, the same conversation, over and over. Usually something someone did or said to you, sometimes something you blame yourself for. Worrying is more often about what is still to come or could go wrong. In everyday speech the two get mixed up, and that is fine. Both keep you awake. Just make peace is made for the first: for that one thought that starts again at two in the morning.

How long does it take?

Three or ten minutes; you choose at the start. The short route is your thought and your number, breathing, the old belief, handing it over and the number once more. The long route takes ten minutes, one question at a time, and you can always see how much is left. You can skip any question and stop at any moment. What you have already filled in stays saved on your phone.

Do I have to forgive the other person?

No, you don't. Handing it over isn't about the other person. It’s about an old belief about yourself, such as "I don't count". That is what you hand over, to whatever you put above the line: you forgive yourself for believing it. What the other person did stays what it was. You don't have to excuse it, you don't have to get in touch and you don't have to say they were right. You can skip any question, including the last one.

Are my answers stored?

Only on your own phone, and what you type is encrypted there. There is no account and no server that sees your answers. We can't read them. That is deliberate: what you write at night about someone who hurt you doesn't belong on a company’s server. If you delete the app or clear your browser data, your answers are gone. In the settings you can save them as a file. That file isn't encrypted, so keep it somewhere private.

Does it cost money?

The route is free and stays free. You don't need an account and there are no ads. You don't pay with your data either: your answers stay on your phone. Later there will be a log that shows patterns, for example which old belief keeps coming back. That log will be a paid extra, and we'll tell you in advance. The questions themselves stay free.

Is this therapy?

No. It is a fixed set of questions you go through yourself, one at a time. Not a treatment and not a replacement for help. Nobody watches along and nobody makes a diagnosis. If it stays with you for weeks, you sleep badly or you can't cope any more, talk to your GP. They can help you work out what you need, and refer you on if that is needed.

What if it gets too much?

Stop. You can do that on any screen, and your answers stay saved. Every screen says: "Too much? Talk to someone." Add an emergency contact in the settings and you can call them with one tap. Thinking about suicide? In the Netherlands, call 113, or 0800-0113 for free, day and night. In immediate danger, call 112. Elsewhere: your local emergency number. Less urgent? Your GP.

Why this exists

I searched for years. Books, courses, conversations, therapy. I understood more and more about why things got to me. And still they kept me awake at night.

After so many setbacks and disappointments, I didn’t want another theory. I wanted something for the moment it starts again. So simple you can still do it at two in the morning.

That’s how these questions came about.
